A gunman was shot dead last night during the invasion of a policewoman’s home in Portmore, St Catherine.
The police said the officer and her 23-year-old daughter were also shot and injured in the incident but are now in stable condition.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has since advised that the threat Level against police officers has been raised to ‘extreme’, following this and several other recent attacks on officers.
According to information gathered so far from the police, about 8:20 pm, the woman and her daughter were attacked and shot by gunmen. The gunfire was returned and the attackers were repelled.
During a subsequent search of the area, one man — believed to be one of the attackers — was found with gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
